Is there any sugar in Synofit?
There is no sugar added
We regularly receive questions about the sugar content of Synofit. These questions come from both diabetic patients and those who are increasingly concerned about how much sugar or carbohydrates they consume.
This is an understandable concern since many supplements contain relevant amounts of sugar or other carbohydrates with a high glycemic index. This is not the case with Synofit! There is absolutely no added sugar or so-called artificial sweeteners.
Synofit Premium Liquid contains so-called steviol glycosides
In place of sugar or chemical (artificial) sweeteners, we added steviol glycosides, a natural sweetener better known as stevia, to Synofit Premium Liquid. In order to make Synofit Premium Liquid more enjoyable, without adding calories or carbohydrates.
Synofit Premium Capsules do not contain stevia or any other natural sweetener. The capsules do not have any taste or odour and therefore do not need any additives to improve their flavour.
Natural sugars in Synofit products
Most natural products do contain some amounts of sugar, or other carbohydrates, even when there are no added sugars. This is also true for Synofit products. However, the quantity of these sugars and/or carbohydrates are so minimal that all Synofit products are considered low in sugar, including both the liquid and the capsules. For more information on this subject see our blog.
Should I take Synofit Premium Liquid or Synofit Premium Capsules?
When you have diabetes or on a low carb diet, then Synofit Premium Liquid could be the preferred formulation since this contains the lowest amount of natural carbohydrates. However, the quantities of carbohydrates in the capsules are also very low. Even when considering the typical low carb diet consists of 50 grams of carbohydrates in a day.
The quantities of carbohydrates in the various formulations of Synofit are:
10 ml Synofit Premium Liquid: 0.6 grams
3 Synofit Premium capsules: 0.7 grams
Thus it can be concluded that all formulations of Synofit are very low in carbohydrates and should not substantially influence diabetes or interfere with a possible low carb diet.
According to the EFSA (European Food Safety Authority), a product must include less than 0.5 grams per serving to be labelled sugar-free.
